2017 Review: Top Travel Destinations of The Year

"2017" drawn with sparklers.

As we look to a new year, we can’t help but showcase some of the hottest destinations of 2017—and, some of these might be trending toward another great year of tourism! This list is broken down by my top domestic and international destinations. We loved visiting these place this year, and can’t wait to see what next year brings! Stay tuned for the hottest destinations of 2018, you might just see a few of these on that list.

Top Domestic Locations of 2017

1. Las Vegas

A neon sign saying "Welcome to Downtown Las Vegas" glitters above a Vegas street at night.

This one should be an easy guess. Who doesn’t love Vegas? Nothing can get this city down, and no matter what, more and more people searching for a reason to visit.

2. Chicago

An old theater in Chicago with a colorful sign.

I like to call it Summertime Chi. I was able to visit in July and I had an amazing time.

3. New York

A yellow taxi driving through a busy intersection in New York City.

Big city, big dreams; 2017 was a good year for NYC, in fact, it was one of the most googled cities this year.

4. Orlando

Spaceship Earth towers over Epcot Theme Park in Florida.

Disney always seems to amaze me. Every single year, it’s a destination that families save up — mickey mouse is still poppin!

5. Los Angeles

People riding bikes and carrying surfboards on a sunny day in Los Angeles.

LA: yet another city I had a chance to visit this year. Although I consider myself to be more of a San Diego girl, I do see why people flock to this southern California metropolis; it has so much more to offer than just beautiful girls and beaches.

Top International Locations of 2017

1. Mexico

A beautiful stretch of sandy beach and crystalline water in Mexico.

(Can I just say, this country has got it going on!) Guadalajara, Cancun, Mexico City — more and more people are traveling to the country, and tourism is booming.

2. Paris

A man riding a bike down a gorgeous avenue in Paris, France.

The city of Love — the most proposed-to place in Europe; the city has so much art and culture.

3. London

The London Eye silhouetted against a bright blue sky.

More London, please! I was there in July, and the city was booming. I seriously can't get enough and want to go back asap. Between the shopping, Indian restaurants and museums, it’s such a beautiful city to get lost in.

4. Ireland

Quaint, colorful houses lining a serene waterfront in Ireland.

One of the trendiest countries this year. We couldn’t stop hearing about all the destination weddings taking place here.

5. Vietnam

Fishermen paddling boats in Vietnam's beautiful Ha Long Bay.

Here’s to more Asia! Between Thailand, S. Korea and Vietnam; there are tons of reasons why you could spend weeks on end in this part of the world. If you haven’t, please add Asia to your 2018 travel list, you will not regret it!
