Occasionally, errors occur, so you must review all enclosed documents for accuracy within 48 hours of receiving them.

Please review the following items, and if you find a discrepancy, contact us right away at support@travel-bash.com

  • Names: Does the spelling on your documents exactly match the names displayed on your passport? Even one letter off could be problematic, so check each name carefully.

  • Flights: Check departure and return dates, times and airlines.

  • Hotels/Resort: Room type, check-in, and check-out dates.

Is Your Passport Valid?

This is a good opportunity to double-check your passport to ensure it is still valid and has sufficient time remaining before expiration. Some countries have specific requirements regarding the amount of time left on a passport before arrival, as well as the number of blank pages it should have. You can visit the website of your destination country to obtain detailed information about their specific requirements.

https://travel.state.gov/content/passports/en/country.html

Step 1: Get Informed

Before you travel, check our Travel Advisory and Alerts for your destination(s) at travel.state.gov/destination. Be sure to read further country-specific details on the same page that could affect your travel, such as entry/exit requirements, local laws and customs, health conditions, transportation, and other relevant topics.

Wi-Fi & Phone

Resorts may offer complimentary phone calls and Wi-Fi services to their guests. We recommend you visit the resort's website for more information on both. Additionally, it's a good idea to inform your cell phone carrier that you'll be traveling abroad to avoid any unexpected roaming charges. Data roaming fees can be quite high, so you might want to consider leaving your phone on airplane mode and using the resort's Wi-Fi for internet access and email.

Global Entry – TSA Pre✓®

Global Entry with TSA Pre✓® is ideal for arriving in the United States from international destinations. You keep your passport in hand and use a kiosk to clear immigration, customs, and agricultural processing. There are no paper arrival forms to fill out when you travel, which means no need to fill out Customs declaration forms.

Step 1: Apply online at https://www.dhs.gov/trusted-traveler-programs

Step 2: Schedule & attend your in-person interview at an enrollment center near you.

Step 3: Once accepted your $100 membership will last for 5 years!

If you are pre-approved to use the Global Entry with TSA Pre✓® lane at a participating airport, you do not need to remove shoes, laptops, 3-1-1 liquids, belts, or light jackets during the screening process. You are required to undergo screening at the checkpoint by technology or a pat-down. Also, TSA officers may swab your hands, mobility aids, equipment and other external medical devices to test for explosives using explosives trace detection technology. You are not required to remove your shoes if you have disabilities and medical conditions. However, your shoes must undergo additional screening including visual/physical inspection as well as explosives trace detection testing of the footwear.

BEWARE OF THE TIMESHARE

Now you are on your way; the next room consists of the timeshare sales staff. Be polite and KEEP ON WALKING until you are entirely outdoors of the airport. None of these salespeople have anything to do with you or your vacation. You will be proceeding outside for all manners of transportation.

Transportation

If transportation to the resort is included in your vacation package, we have highlighted the details in your travel documents. Please take a minute to familiarize yourself with the transportation section. Locating your transfer can be overwhelming when you step outside if you are unfamiliar with the driver’s company or uniform.

Health Tips

Sunscreen should be used even on a cloudy day. It needs to be applied BEFORE going out into the sun to work properly. Avoid mixing too much sun, alcoholic beverages, and rich/spicy food. This combination will ruin your trip!

Although the water is purified in most resorts, please stick to bottled water, especially if you have a delicate stomach. You can even use bottled water to brush your teeth.

Hotel Accommodations

Once you arrive at the hotel, the resort will do an initial check-in. Although your room may not be ready (check-in is typically around 3 or 4 p.m.), you can enjoy the resort. We suggest you pack a bathing suit in your carry-on. Changing facilities are available. Leave the bellman with your baggage while you enjoy the property.

Tipping

Tips to hotel staff and airport baggage handlers are at your discretion. Gratuities for wait staff at all-inclusive resorts are included, but feel free to tip if you have exceptional service at any point during your stay. Tipping during dinner service is often recommended. Please bring a good supply of $1 bills with you. Getting change in American dollars can sometimes be tricky.

Leave Behind Information

Leave detailed travel plans with a family member or business associate. Rest assured, you can be reached in case of an emergency! Due to privacy rules, we cannot divulge your travel information to callers seeking to locate you. Ensure every person you want to hear from has the resort's phone number or can reach you via cell phone.

Money Matters

Depending on the destination, exchanging your US dollars for local currency is unnecessary. For example, dollars are accepted everywhere in the Dominican Republic, including cab drivers and shops.

Note: For large purchases, only $100 cash may be used per transaction and the balance must be on a credit card. You may want to call your credit card company in advance to advise them when and where you will be traveling.

Dress Code & Dining

Resort casual by day, resort elegant by night. So, while the sun is up, your shorts, tank tops, swimsuits, short-sleeved shirts, sundresses and light slacks are perfect. As the sun sets and you set out to enjoy the evening, proper attire is required (although elegant dress shorts are permitted in some restaurants). Most resorts require long slacks for men at the upscale à la carte restaurants. Please consult the resort website for more information. MEN WILL NEED PANTS FOR RESTAURANTS AT DINNER.

Step 2: Get Required Documents

A passport is a U.S. citizen’s key to international travel. Your passport is the most important thing you must take with you everywhere on your trip. The name on your passport must match the name on ALL of your travel vouchers/tickets, or you will not be allowed to travel. Please make a copy of all passports and email them to your personal email address. This will help expedite the process of getting a replacement passport, if need be, while traveling.

Step 3: Get Enrolled

Before you go, sign up for our Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) at https://step.state.gov/step/  Enrolling your trip in STEP allows you to receive important information about safety conditions in your destination and helps the U.S. embassy or consulate contact you in an emergency.
